Gordon’s Fine Foods sold to British Pepper & Spice

Gordon’s Fine Foods sold to British Pepper & Spice (part of the SHS Group)

UK-based Charles Gordon Associates Limited, trading as Gordon’s Fine Foods, was acquired by British Pepper & Spice (BPS), part of the SHS Group. This strategic step strengthened BPS’s leading position in the UK condiments market. The shareholders of Charles Gordon Associates were advised on the transaction by Initium.

Incorporated in 1976, at the time of the transaction Gordon’s Fine Foods was a well-established manufacturer of fine condiments and sauces. Dedicated to quality, the company meticulously crafted premium mustards, sauces, jellies, and chutneys using only the finest ingredients. Beyond its own distinguished brand, Gordon’s Fine Foods was a trusted partner to premium UK retailers, including Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, and Harrods.

BPS has a heritage dating back more than 300 years, and in 2025 describes itself as the leading private label herbs and spices manufacturer in the UK, maintaining that over 90% of UK households have at least one product in their kitchen cupboards that originates from the condiments and sauces it creates. The company has both wet and dry product ranges selling through three distinct channels: retail (includes the Gordons brand); foodservice; and ingredients.
