Powder & Liquid Products sold to Jeyes Group
Durham-based Powder & Liquid Products (PLP), a manufacturer and distributor of branded and own-label laundry and household cleaning products, has been sold to Norfolk-based Jeyes Group. The transaction was led by Initium.
Established in 1986, at the time of the transaction, PLP manufactured and supplied household laundry and cleaning detergents to a broad range of retailers throughout the UK, including retail multiples, cash & carry, wholesalers, brokers, and trading houses for export. Clients included household names such as Tesco, Iceland, Aldi, Netto, Poundland, Bestway, and FarmFoods.
The product range comprised washing-up liquid and tablets, bleach, laundry powder and liquid, fabric conditioner, and surface wipes, sold under the registered brands of “Easy” and “Daisy”, or white-labelled under the retailers’ own in-house brands. At the time of the transaction, Easy was the fastest-selling discount-detergent brand in the UK.
Established in 1877, at the time of the transaction, the household cleaning products group Jeyes owned brands including Parozone, Bloo and Jeyes Fluid. This acquisition was its first step on the acquisition trail after a period of restructuring, including investment in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution facility at Kadan in the Czech Republic, and a programme of new product development and innovation.
Subsequently, the Jeyes Group sold a number of its home care brands to German-based Henkel, including Jeyes, Bloo, and Parozone.
