RM Consultants sold to Areva

RM Consultants Ltd (RMC), a UK consulting company specialising in nuclear safety assessment, sold to Areva (now Orano SA), a multinational nuclear fuel cycle company headquartered in Hauts-de-Seine, France.

First established in the 1970s, RMC supplied specialised services to the major nuclear organisations in the UK. As reported at the time of the transaction in 2009, the acquisition reinforced AREVA’s market presence in the UK, strengthened know-how in the field of nuclear safety and environmental risks analysis, and delivered extensive expertise in the UK’s specific nuclear regulatory bodies and procedures.

Majority owned by the French state, Orano specialises in uranium mining, conversion-enrichment, spent fuel recycling, nuclear logistics, dismantling, and nuclear cycle engineering. It was created from Areva in 2017 following restructuring.
